M&T Women’s Bubble Tea Social: Celebrating a Supportive Subset of the M&T Community
It was an unusually grey and rainy day on October 15th, the day of the M&T Women’s Bubble Tea Social. But inside the Penn Women’s Center, the brightly colored cups of bubble tea were being quickly grabbed by the growing gathering of M&T’s. The freshmen, myself included, were just getting used to this new college life, and this was the perfect chance to unwind and chat with a few upperclassmen. Now that the freshmen had experienced a little over a full month of college, there were much more pressing issues to talk about beyond how many books and sweaters we could realistically pack for our new dorms.
This group of women makes up a close knit and supportive subset within the M&T community. Between balancing the demands of schoolwork and enjoying newly found freedom of college, this break was a great reminder that we are neither the first nor the last to be in this position, and we need to enjoy it! Just listening to all of the experiences and advice the upperclassmen had to offer, from making time to study abroad to taking an obscure class with a life-changing professor, made me all the more excited for the years to come!
Lauren is a current M&T freshman in the Class of 2016.
